Dr. Josie Benteler earned her Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Psychology from Washington and Jefferson College before going on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry.

Originally from Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Dr. Benteler has lived in several parts of the country throughout her training, including Memphis, Tennessee, as well as Surprise, Arizona, and Gainesville, Florida, where she completed clinical externships.

She recently relocated to Nashville to begin her career with OPMT Vision Centers and is excited to explore the city with her boyfriend, especially its restaurants, coffee shops, and music scene. In her free time, she enjoys reading, following sports, drinking coffee, and scrapbooking.

Dr. Benteler is passionate about providing patient-centered care and values building strong relationships with her patients. She is especially interested in working with veterans and has experience providing care in a VA hospital setting, as well as participating in a medical mission trip to Costa Rica where she helped deliver eye care services to over 400 individuals.
