Vision therapy is similar to physical therapy, but for the eyes. It aims to treat physical and neurological conditions that can affect your vision and consists of both in-office appointments and at-home exercises that work on improving the connection between the eyes and the brain. Vision therapy can be used to treat amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed eyes), and other neurological conditions that can affect eyesight, including those resulting from illness or injuries.
Dry eye disease is a common condition characterized by a lack in the quality or quantity of tears. This can lead to the eyes feeling red, itchy, watery, and tired, and can eventually cause extreme discomfort and long-term corneal damage if left untreated. It’s also difficult to treat without a full evaluation of the root causes. At OPMT in Hartsville, our optometrists evaluate your eyes for dry eye syndrome, detect the underlying reasons for it, and offer proven treatments, including LipiFlow®, and punctal plugs, and at-home solutions like medicated eye drops.
