Dr. Haley Durocher, Optometrist

Dr. Haley Durocher, O.D., is a skilled optometrist who brings a fresh and enthusiastic approach to OPMT Vision Centers in Nashville. She grew up in a family of eye care specialists and has always wanted to provide quality eye care to patients since she was a little girl. Her energy and dedication to her profession are evident in every aspect of her work.

After receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi where she graduated with distinction, Dr. Durocher then earned her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Optometry. After graduation, she completed clinical rotations in Charleston, SC, and Atlanta, GA. She is an elected Secretary/Treasurer for the Middle Tennessee Optometric Physician’s Society and serves on two committees for the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians.

When she’s not serving patients, Dr. Durocher is a keen tennis player and photography enthusiast in Nashville, where she currently lives.

Dr. Mike Hassell, Optometrist

Dr. Mike Hassell has treated patients’ eyes in the Smith County region for more than 39 years. He provides personalized eye care for patients of all ages, offering services such as comprehensive eye exams, eye disease management, and prescription updates.

After earning his Bachelor of Science from Lipscomb University, Dr. Hassell went on to achieve his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry. He is a fixture in the Carthage community as an optometrist who cares deeply for his patients, always going above and beyond to preserve their vision and maintain their eye health. Dr. Hassell appreciates the small-town nature of working in Carthage because it allows him to make personal connections with those in his care.

A longtime resident of Smith County, Dr. Hassell lives on a 50-acre farm with his wife, Melanie, and their Australian Shepherd, Lilly Belle. When he’s not at the office, Dr. Hassell enjoys taking care of the goats, cows, and chickens on the farm, as well as spending peaceful evenings with his wife in her flower garden. He enjoys being an active part of the community that he serves, which is why he spent 15 years on the radio commenting on Carthage High School football.

Dr. Hassell happily joined the OPMT Vision Centers — Carthage team in 2022 when his longtime practice, Family Eye Care, was acquired by the respected family of providers.

Dr. Donald W. Blocker, Optometrist

Dr. Donald Blocker provides comprehensive vision care for both adults and children. As a member of the American Optometric Association, Dr. Blocker is here to examine, diagnose and manage the treatment of eye diseases, injuries or eye disorders you may have. He is devoted to extending the best in vision health to your entire family, holding the highest standards at all times.

Dr. Richard D. Durocher, Optometrist

Richard D. Durocher, O.D. is a board certified optometrist specializing in vision rehabilitation, low vision, and vision therapy services. As a lifelong Middle Tennessee resident, he is committed to providing excellence in eye care and enhancing the quality of life for patients in his community—and people everywhere—by helping to develop new products and procedures.

For nearly two decades, Dr. Durocher has been heavily involved in clinical research on a variety of eye care topics, including ocular surface disease, contact lenses, and contact lens care systems. He has authored numerous articles that have been published in medical journals. His expertise and studies on eye care products have created an international demand for his lectures.

Dr. Durocher previously served as president for the State Association of Optometric Physicians and currently serves on the Southern Educational Congress of Optometry (SECO) Board as President-Elect. Highly respected among his peers, Dr. Durocher received the Optometrist of the Year award from the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians in 2011.

Dr. Iqra Wahid, Optometrist

Iqra Wahid, O.D., is a board-certified primary care optometrist and Nashville native. She provides a large variety of medical eye care services including low vision care, glaucoma management, anterior segment diseases, posterior segment diseases, contact lens fittings, and primary care optometry.

Dr. Wahid earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Belmont University, followed by her Doctor of Optometry from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences College of Optometry. After her schooling, she went through several clinical rotations, including two Veteran’s Affairs outpatient clinics, where she treated ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and more.

Today, Dr. Wahid practices with us at Optometric Physicians of Middle Tennessee. Her expertise in a wide array of eye conditions, and compassion as a caregiver, make her a great asset to our team. Her professional specialties include emergency ocular care, primary care, and geriatric ocular care.

Dr. Michael Durocher, Optometristt

Dr. Michael Durocher is a committed optometrist and the nephew of OPMT Vision Centers’ founder, Dr. Richard Durocher. He has followed in his uncle’s footsteps by providing exceptional eye care services, like comprehensive eye exams, contact lens exams and fittings, and eye disease diagnosis and management, to patients of all ages.

After earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cumberland University, Dr. Michael Durocher was driven to the optometric field because of his fascination with how the eyes work and desire to help people see better every day. This dedication led him to achieve his Doctor of Optometry from the Kentucky College of Optometry at the University of Pikesville. His background as a nurse gives him a unique perspective and allows him to consider the full body health of each patient he serves.

Born in Nashville, and raised in Lebanon, he has lived all throughout the south during his life and education. He is now settled in Old Hickory with his fiancé, Jasmine, and their two cats, Pekka and Lulu. When he’s not treating his patients, Dr. Michael Durocher enjoys golfing, cooking, watching television and movies, and rooting for his favorite hockey team — the Nashville Predators — as they take the ice.

Dr. Justin Reid, Optometrist

Dr. Reid is a trusted optometrist with OPMT Vision Centers who provides compassionate eye care. He offers a wide range of services, such as comprehensive eye exams, eye disorder detection and management, and vision correction.

After graduating from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Dr. Reid chose to work in eye care after shadowing an optometrist who inspired him to dedicate his career to improving people’s lives. He then went on to attend the Kentucky College of Optometry at the University of Pikesville, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry.

A Tennessee native, Dr. Reid has previously lived in a few cities around the state, in addition to Pikeville, KY, and Barboursville, WV. He now resides in Gallatin with his wife, Kelley, their two cats, Darcy and Harley, and their dog, Ody. When he’s not at the office, Dr. Reid loves playing board games with friends and family, kayaking, reading, and writing short stories. He can even juggle!

Dr. Reid enjoys collaborating with the team at OPMT Vision Centers to ensure excellent care for patients of all ages. He is proud to provide personalized services with the most advanced diagnostic technology to enhance his patients’ comfort and the thoroughness of their care.

Dr. William Parsley OPMT Lebanon TN Optometrist

Dr. William Parsley, Optometrist

Before pursuing a career in eye care, Dr. William Parsley graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a BA in Psychology, before receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis.

During his time at SCO, Dr. Parsley was an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), American Optometric Student Association, and AOA-Political Action Committee. Additionally, he was active in the Student Society of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians (SSTAOP).

Dr. Parsley remained involved in SCO’s chapter of Optometric Private Practice club, which prepares students for the business of optometry. These experiences outside of clinical care have empowered him to continue to elevate the optometric industry, networking with legislators to protect and promote the scope of the profession.

Dr. Parsley loves practicing full-scope optometry and applying his training in ocular disease treatment and management. He is always looking for opportunities that allow him to grow as an optometric professional and provide exceptional care to all of his patients

Dr. Parsley splits his time between the OPMT locations in Lebanon and Belle Meade.

Dr. Sinead Flood, Optometrist

Sinead Flood, O.D., is a board-certified optometrist and ocular disease specialist. She has extensive experience with glaucoma and refractive surgery post-operative care.

Dr. Flood completed her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, before joining Teach for America for four years, providing education for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. After her tenure, she returned to school at the Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, IN, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry with high honors.

After graduation, Dr. Flood completed a 13-month residency at the Cincinnati Eye Institute, one of the largest tertiary eye care centers in the country, where she specialized in ocular diseases. During her residency, she gained extensive post-graduate training for glaucoma, retina conditions, cornea conditions, neuro-ophthalmology, urgent care, dry eye, uveitis, and post-operative care.

Dr. Flood is a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and is working towards a Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Derek S. Peveler, Optometrist

As a Kentucky native, Dr. Peveler attended Western Kentucky University, receiving Bachelor’s degrees in both Chemistry and Biology. During his undergraduate career, Dr. Peveler was an active member of Unite for Sight and the Lions Club.

Dr. Peveler continued his education at the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry, earning his Doctor of Optometry degree. Throughout his graduate studies, Dr. Peveler was an intern under the late N. Rex Ghormley; a renowned contact lens specialist. During his last year of optometry school, Dr. Peveler completed clinical externships in primary eye care, pediatrics and binocular vision, ocular disease, contact lenses, and geriatric care.

Dr. Peveler is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Tennessee Optometric Association. He also donates his clinical skills through school vision screenings and non-profit clinics. Dr. Peveler resides in the greater Nashville area with his wife, Beth and his son, Landon.

Patients at our Hendersonville and Lafayette locations will be treated by Dr. Derek Peveler.

Dr. Jeffery Johnson, Optometrist

High School before moving on to undergraduate studies in Biology and Physical Sciences at the University of Central Arkansas. In addition to academics, Dr. Johnson was also a National Champion in competitive cheerleading for the university in 2002 and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, which took part in many local and national charitable causes. These included work for Alzheimer’s research and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, among others. During his later undergraduate years, Dr. Johnson was also a founding member and the first president of the university’s first Pre-Optometry club.

Upon graduation from the University of Central Arkansas, Dr. Johnson began his optometric studies at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, where he met fellow OPMT optometric physician, Dr. Derek Peveler. While there, he did several clinical externships in and around the St. Louis/Eastern Illinois area where he developed a strong interest in ocular disease and contact lenses while working with the John Cochran VA, O’Donnell Eye Institute and the famed Koetting Associates private contact lens practice.

Dr. Johnson has had extensive experience in many clinical settings including retail optometry with America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses in Illinois, working alongside ophthalmologists in central Arkansas’ largest Cataract/LASIK/Oculoplastics practice at McFarland Eye Care, and is now focused on serving patients here in Tennessee by providing full-scope private practice optometry here with Optometric Physicians of Middle Tennessee.
In June of 2019, Dr. Johnson and his family moved from Little Rock, AR to Gallatin, TN to be a part of the ever-growing OPMT practice. He is married to his beautiful wife, Courtney, and they have a precious young daughter, Addison Blair. They have all come to love the state of Tennessee and the greater Nashville area especially, but remain loyal Razorback fans! However, they do cheer for both the Titans and the Preds!

Dr. Johnson loves to provide exceptional eye care to patients in our Portland and Hendersonville locations.

Dr. Sarah Fowler OPMT Hendersonville TN Optometrist

Dr. Sarah Fowler, Optometrist

Dr. Sarah Fowler earned her undergraduate degree in biology at the College of Charleston in South Carolina, before completing her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Alabama’s Birmingham School of Optometry. From there, she completed externships in Virginia and Alabama, and a residency at the Wilmington VA Medical Center in Delaware.

During her externships and residency, Dr. Fowler helped manage challenging referrals from local ODs and gained experience in diagnosing and managing a wide variety of eye diseases and conditions. These specialties include glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, pediatric amblyopia, post-stroke management, corneal injuries, and the ocular effects of traumatic brain injuries. She also performed routine refractive care and cataract evaluations.

As an optometric physician at OPMT Vision Centers, Dr. Fowler specializes in comprehensive eye care and ocular disease management. She works with patients of all ages, and has a special love for geriatric and pediatric eye care. She’s also passionate about helping those with challenging cases, multiple conditions, and emergency eye care needs.

Dr. Fowler has donated her time to both her local and international community by providing ocular care to those in need in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, as well as assisting in homeless ministries and education programs for impoverished areas of Alabama. In her free time, Dr. Fowler enjoys cooking, reading, travel, learning about other countries and cultures, and spending time out on the water.
