Our Approach to
Contact Lenses
Everyone has different visual needs, and when it comes to contact lenses, there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all. To make sure you’re wearing the right type of contacts for your eyes, we recommend a comprehensive eye exam followed by a contact lens exam. Improper contact lens fit will not only compromise the clarity of your vision, but the health of your eyes as well.
Contact Lens Exams
In order to help you select the right brand and style of contact lenses, we will start by evaluating your overall eye health. We will review your medical and ocular history and ensure it is up to date, as well as examine your eyes for any conditions that may prevent you from wearing contact lenses.
In addition to evaluating the overall structure of your eyes, we will also assess your vision and determine your contact lens prescription, which will differ slightly from your eyeglass prescription.
Contact Lens Fittings
Once we have determined that your eyes are suitable for contact lenses, we’ll take measurements to ensure that the contacts we recommend match the unique structure of your individual eyes. We use corneal topography to measure the shape and thickness of your corneas, as well as to detect any irregularities that could affect your contact lens fit.
Contact lenses are available in a variety of shapes, styles, and sizes. Finding the right match is important to ensure that your contacts are comfortable, because an ill-fitting contact can affect your quality of vision.
Contact Lens Trials
After we’ve found the right brand and style of contacts, we’ll send you home with a trial supply. This will allow you time to determine whether the lenses you choose are clear, comfortable, and able to meet your visual needs every day.
Once you’ve had a chance to test out the trial pair, we’ll met with you again to make sure you are satisfied with our recommendation, make sure your eyes are adapting well to the lenses, and order a supply of lenses for you. If it turns out they were not a good match, we will adjust the prescription, brand, or style accordingly until we’ve found your best fit.
