OPMT is proud to offer a range of services that you won’t find anywhere else, for patients who need consistent, reliable treatment for uncommon eye health needs. In Belle Meade, Dr. Durocher and his team provides Vision Therapy, Low Vision Rehabilitation, treatment for vision-loss associated with a range of Neurological Disorders and advanced Dry Eye Treatment.

Vision therapy is aimed at improving the relationship between the function of your eyes and your brain. Consisting of in-office and at-home exercises and treatments, vision therapy can be used to improve amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed eyes), and other conditions that affect the quality of your eyesight. In addition to traditional methods of vision therapy such as patching, our doctors use an advanced approach using cutting-edge technology, including the Sanet Vision Integrator and Vivid Vision virtual reality.

Low vision is a visual impairment that worsens over time and cannot be corrected using conventional methods such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, or surgery. It can be caused by disease, injuries, or hereditary factors. While there is no solution for many diseases or injuries that cause low vision, the specialists at OPMT help patients manage their condition and learn to maximize their remaining vision in order to preserve their quality of life.

Some neurological disorders affect the relationship between the eyes and the brain. Patients who have experienced stroke, whiplash, and other traumatic brain injuries can benefit from our vision therapy, as well as patients with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and developmental delays. Our compassionate Nashville eye doctors work with patients to alleviate the effects that neurological conditions have on vision.

Dry eye disease is characterized by a deficiency in either tear quality or quantity. Red, itchy, tired eyes, light sensitivity, and blurry vision, and excessively watery eyes are all symptoms of dry eye disease, and can be extremely uncomfortable and cause long-term corneal damage.

While the symptoms are straightforward, the causes may not be, and it takes a multidimensional approach to identify the source of the condition. We have cutting-edge diagnostic technology that allows us to look deeper at dry eye, and advanced treatments to address the symptoms and the source, including medicated eye drops, LipiFlow®, and punctal plugs.

Testimonials

This place is EVERYTHING! I was experiencing double vision after emergency brain surgery and being 29, it’s frightening that this will be forever. Every single person in this office calmed my fears, made me feel appreciated and made my whole entire week. The genuine kindness and caring exuded from these doctors and nurses blew me away. I even broke down and cried a few times because of how good they made me feel. Super professional (with lots of laughs along the way.) MUST SEE! He is gentle, caring, and thorough. Trust you are in amazing hands at this facility. I can’t thank them enough for the experience.
– Sara Smallwood

We have been going to Dr. Durocher for 17 years. He is the best! He’s very thorough and doesn’t rush to the most extreme treatment. He realized my boys had functional eye problems when they were quite young and found issues that I didn’t even know they had. He keeps a close eye (no pun intended) on a situation I have to make sure there’s not any changes. But even more than that, Dr. Durocher is compassionate and personable. He really cares about his patients and their well-being. He takes time to address not only concerns but life in general. You don’t find many doctors today who actually take time beyond looking at your chart.
– Brenda Turner
This office and staff really know what they are doing. They have helped my wife in so many ways, they are very patient & understanding & we enjoy our time with them weekly. Dr. Durocher is one of the best.
– Wendell McDaniel
I had a great first visit. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I left knowing I was in good hands.
